My summer vacay officially started on Monday!! Yeah that’s right—unlike you lucky bastards, I actually had summer school to contend with. Point is, I am now free! Free to rot in bed all day, free stop showering and free to deactivate my brain ‘til September comes ‘round. Yep, life’s goooooood!
Except no. That’s not what I want. This summer will be different [she assured herself]. I will spend it well, doing creative and productive things like learning to paint (I am going to die in my senior art class—my painting ability is…laughable and…nonexistent), biking or jogging everyday, doing more web designing, improving my drawings, catching up on some reading, and hopefully getting a summer job.
I started what I hope will be a creative and productive summer by getting rid of my old magazines! But not before I made themed collages out of them first:

And here’s little Audrey pasted on the back of my sketchbook:

Around December of last year, I bought these pretty photo cards from Winners:

Unlike some people, my family doesn’t give out family photo cards for Christmas. You know, the ones with a corny Christmas-themed family picture pasted on the cover? Maybe with a lame, drop-shadowed font spelling out “The ______ Family wish you a Happy Holidays!” Yeah, I know you know the one.
Well, I got these photo cards that were obviously meant for that purpose, but as I said, we just don’t do that stuff. So, in a nutshell, this pack of beautiful cards sat untouched in my bottom drawer for a whole year. What a waste, right?
Forward to Tuesday of this week when, as I was wrapping my friends’ gifts, I realized that I had forgotten to buy cards to go along with their gifts.
But then, an idea popped into my head! (I love when that happens)
I dug these out of my drawer, popped open Photoshop, and went to work on designing spiffy covers for their cards. Unfortunately, my clunky printer didn’t do my designs any justice, so I had to waste some more ink, give it a few more tries, and give my printer a little pep talk before it turned out the way I wanted it to.
Here’s the end result:

Yeah, the edges of the vectored Christmas ornaments aren’t very smooth. My mouse was running out of energy okay?

Tell me what you think!

It’s funny how I feel so guilty for not blogging here when in fact, it has only been a week since my last post! Although now that I think about it, that does seem like a long time compared to the pace of other bloggers
But oh well! To each their own, I guess.
Anyhoot, I’m here to announce the addition of my new blog! My new sketch blog, to be precise. click click click:

It’s actually not very new since I opened it at the end of July; I just never really told anyone about it
. By starting a sketch blog, I’m hoping to get more use out of my neglected sketchbook and post rough sketches that I’m much too lazy to put in my DeviantArt account. I also think that it’s going to be fun looking back on my old doodles and seeing what was on my mind during those moments. It’ll be interesting to see if I improve!
I decided to use Wordpress to run the sketch blog so that in addition to encouraging myself to draw more, I can finally learn how to work the blogging tool everyone’s been raving about. Now that’s what I call a win-win situation
. I’m certainly not as diligent with ‘daily drawing’ as Chris Piascik is, but it’s a start. Oh, and I should make a custom Wordpress theme for the place… anyone know of any good tutorials?
P.S: The ‘content’ section of the site is opened! I added a new tutorial. Next up: a .htaccess tutorial.
