I watched this movie on Wednesday as part of my Psychology/Anthropology/Sociology homework. Initially, I was going to watch Legally Blonde to complete the assignment (we were given a list of movie options), but then I saw this video on The FlashDance blog; saw that it involved a Beatles song, and set my heart on this movie instead. Boy am I sooo happy I did! I Really really enjoyed it
I thought I hadn’t seen this film before, but some parts actually felt familiar to me. I probably saw it when I was really young but didn’t know what it was called.
So this is what I spent periods 2-3 on Wednesday doing. Afterwards, I had this great urge to skip school and go dance to Twist and Shout in public. hahahaha!
Can any of you believe it’s December already? I still feel like it’s September and school just started.. It STILL hasn’t snowed over here though. I heard on the news that this is the first time in over 162 years that Canada (or was it just Toronto?) has had a snow-less November. This makes me really nervous because 162 years ago was when they started documenting weather patterns, so for all I know, this could be the first time in 4.5 billion years that it hasn’t snowed in Canada on November. No snow in November = GLOBAL WARMING Y’ALL!
I have a feeling that soon, winter won’t even exist anymore! That’s horrible because what will everyone think of Canada then? If not the country with the picturesque snowy valleys and perfectly constructed igloos, then what?! Never mind the fact that multiple natural disasters will occur all around the world and that it’ll soon be irreversible—what about the state of Canada’s identity? We can’t just be known for the moose, beavers and maple syrup. Snow is what makes this country what it is!
So if you care about Canada, please help stop global warming. This great country is at stake. *cue Canadian anthem*
...
Okay, I’m done. (you did know that was a joke right?)
Actually, the real purpose of this blog entry was to post some leftover pictures from November that I took when it was Civies day at school (meaning we didn’t have to wear our itchy uniform). Here they are:
Oh man.. this has been one of my longest “intermissions” in a while! I even broke my blog-at-least-once-every-two-weeks rule. Sorry friends! To make up for it, I’m going to post about what happened during the past few weeks and even throw in a couple of pictures here and there…
Nuit Blanche ‘09
On Saturday, my sister, her friends and I went to downtown Toronto to attend Nuit Blanche, which, according to their website, is a “free all-night contemporary art thing”. Basically, for one night, artwork is put on the streets of the city and in public places for people to see or interact with. It started at 6:55 PM and ended at sunrise. Here are some pictures of our night:
The first thing we saw when we went there was the huge Rabbit Balloon. It was placed inside the mall, which was a smart move because it rained a bit outside.
The city hall even participated in this cool event! It’s hard to see in the picture, but the lights make up the word “FEAR” and changed occasionally throughout the night. I heard someone saw it form the words “LOVE” and “FATE”.
We were walking down the street and saw a looong lineup outside of this old house. We got curious, so we decided to stand in line too…
