I always wondered why it constantly takes me forever to finish making a layout when other people can complete theirs in one weekend. I thought about it and I realized that the reason that I’m such a slowpoke is because… of me. Let me elaborate by making this list of factors that contribute to my slow-ness idea:

  1. WHENEVER I MAKE A NEW VERSION, IT HAS TO BE UNIQUE - This means that I have to think of more unique ways to do stuff like displaying dates and whatnot. I don’t want the same thing as everyone else!  confused
  2. I WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW FROM EVERY LAYOUT I MAKE - For example, in my recent pre-made I discovered how to make double-image backgrounds, which will surely come handy for future designs. Also, while making the current version of Sunshined.org, I learned so much about Adobe Illustrator.
  3. I WANT TO MAKE EVERYTHING MYSELF - I always try to avoid using someone else’s image or resources (like photoshop brushes) for my own layout. It never truly feels like my own work if I do that. But this also means that it takes longer to pretty up my site.  nooo
  4. CODING, CODING, CODING - After I finish coding certain things, I usually have to backtrack and redo because I find better and cleaner ways of coding to achieve the same results. (e.g. a simpler code to position a box)
  5. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE IT’S ACCESSIBLE - I often make the mistake of forgetting that not everyone is using a 1440x900 screen resolution like me or that not everyone uses the same browser I do (sadly). So before I actually unveil a layout, I have to let it go through some tests on other computers which also takes some time.

Soo, all of that equals to a month-long “under construction” sign pasted in the front of my site. I hate myself bored

ps. No, I’m not leaving. Just expressing how irritated I am that I am such a perfectionist when it comes to web design. It really slows me dooooown!

Just letting you all know that I’ve decided to take a small break from this site to focus on actually passing tenth grade. So far, I’ve been super productive in school and I want to continue to do so. But that would mean no time to update this blog and the rest of the site. Maybe I’ll blog after our school’s art show is over just to post up some pics, but other than that, there will be no updates from this site whatsoever. ohnoes

I had one tutorial and a CSS template that I was about to add to the site, but I guess that will just have to wait til after school stops torturing me. mad It makes me sad that I have to take a break from this site when I just reopened it not too long ago.. But I’m really looking forward to when school’s over so that I can put more time into this site and not have to worry a thing. I’ve made that my goal: Just get through school so that I can enjoy summer vacation!

Anyways, I’m getting too off-topic now.. Even though I won’t be here on the site much, I always have time for Twitter of course! Hahaha proud Good luck to all those who are also struggling in these final months of school. We can do this!

Hey guys, I’m just posting to let you all know that the Links page is up and running. As you can see, lately I’ve been crazy about art/fashion/design sites. heart If there’s a cool site you know of, feel free to share it. I’d love to check it out! happy

Recently, I won a domain from a Twitter contest and I really need help in deciding what to do with it. My sister suggested that I build a portfolio site to display my work, but I’m not too sure I’d want to dedicate a whole site just for a portfolio. I was thinking that I should just use the money I won to transfer Sunshined.org to Namecheap so that Kathy won’t have to pay for my domain in the future. I’m not too sure how smoothly transferring a domain name would be, so if any of you have tried doing a domain transfer from 1and1 to Namecheap, let me know. excaim I’m pretty new to this whole domain business…

On a final note, I will be enabling comment expiration from now on. I’m just so sick of the spam comments I get and deleting them each time is too much work. I hope when the next version of Expression Engine comes out, it’ll be more effective in stopping spam. I don’t want to switch to Wordpress!!
