House Rule

Whenever my sister’s friends (or any guests for that matter) come visit our house, the first thing my Mom asks them is, “Are you guys hungry?”. They usually respond by denying they are, out of politeness, but this is the wrong move! My Mom will just continue to give them a stare-down until she gets them to sit on the dining table. By the time she’s finished with them, she would have already called Regino’s for two large boxes of cheese and Hawaiian pizzas.

I think it’s absolutely hilarious watching people being pressured to eat against their will. My Mom’s eyes says it all: “Eat or it will be the last thing you do”. Even those who aren’t even hungry will be forced to eat in my house. Once, my younger brother’s friend came over and said he already ate. My Mom continued to annoy him and he kept on refusing until my brother stepped in and screamed, “HE ISN’T HUNGRY, MOM! JUST STOP.” And embarrassingly, that wasn’t the first time that happened. embarassed

Maybe it’s because she doesn’t want anyone leaving our house feeling hungry, or maybe it’s just my Mom’s maternal instincts kicking in. But ever since I can remember, my Mom has always been like that. A few days ago, I was talking with my friends at school and they couldn’t stop babbling about how good my Mom’s leche flan was or how they were craving for her famous mango shake. So, I guess once everyone gets on with it and takes a bite, they just forget all about how controlling she is. Hahaha!

I’m warning anyone: don’t ever say no to my mother when she asks if you’re hungry. She’ll just pretend she never heard you and she’ll keep on asking. Then you’ll just end up eating anyway, so it’s a waste of time to refuse. This is one of the most important rules in my family’s unwritten book of rules. It’s right up there with “Never wear Mom’s slippers” and “Never steal Hazel’s Snack Pack (or else)”. excaim

synonym of badger: eat

Coincidentally, I found the above a few hours before I wrote this entry. I find it funny that ‘eat’ is a synonym of ‘annoy’. I should show this to my Mom..

*Sigh* I love my Mom. She gives me something to blog about! heart Hahahaha
